How to build your multi rotor from scratch Tutorials

How to build your multi rotor from scratch Tutorials

In this Tutorial we will  show you how to build your
own multi rotor from scratch. This is especially useful to beginners.
There will be 3 parts  series.
In Part 1 we will introduce what are the components needed to build your multi rotor
in part 2 we will show you how to choose every component in the multi rotor
In part 3 we will assemble your multi rotor and making it ready to fly
by tuning the multirotor to optimize its flying performance

Part 1

Multi Rotor Components

 1- Multi Rotor Frame

this is the integral part of the multirotor as it joins the other components. The frame can come in many designs and sizes yet its main purpose is to ensure that the vibrations coming from the motors are kept at a minimum. Therefore, it is imperative that the frame is made with a strong and rigid material, such as carbon fibre.

for every multi rotor there are many designs you can choose or create your own desing

Quad copter frames

Tri copter frames

Hexa copter frames

 Octa Copter Frames

2-Brushless Motors & Props:

every multirotor has electric motors and these drive the propellers. The motors on a multirotor are usually out-runners (meaning that the motor is on the outside as opposed to being on the inside).

in part 2 of these tutorial we will discuss how to choose the motor for your multi rotor

3-Electronic Speed Controllers (ESC)

this interprets the control information from the controller board and varies the speed and direction in which the multirotor is moving.

the ESC must be compatible with the motor
10A, 20A, 30A, 40A, 50A, 60A, 70A, 80A
in part 2 will show how to select the ESC to be compatible with your motor

4-Battery & Power System

the are many types of batteries and every type has many endurance ranges, the selection of the power system depend on what endurance do you want to fly?

5-Radio

6-Control Board

his is the flight control board. It’s purpose is to ensure stability in flight and does this by passing the information on to the Electronic Speed Control. Controller boards can also be customised to add different functions.

there are many control boards for for multirotors  like
KK2.0 Multi-rotor LCD Flight Control Board

multiwii pro flight control board
ardupilot control board
